The Conservative Party, founded in 1834, is one of the two historically dominant political parties in the United Kingdom. The party was in government for fourteen consecutive years, from 2010 until the 2024 United Kingdom general election.

Commonly referred to as the “Tories”, the Conservatives are generally considered a centre-Right party. They traditionally support free-market economics and liberal economic policies, advocate for maintaining the political union of the UK and oppose independence movements within its constituent nations. The party has historically held a Eurosceptic position and supported the UK’s withdrawal from the European Union. In foreign and defence policy, the Conservatives strongly support membership in NATO and the continuation of the UK’s nuclear deterrent programme.

The current party leader, Kemi Badenoch, has focused on rebuilding public confidence in the party following its defeat in the 2024 general election.

Energy reform
  • End Labour’s ban on new oil and gas licences and maximise extraction in the North Sea.

  • Repeal the Climate Change Act and axe the Carbon Tax entirely.
