Founded in 1988 with the electoral alliance of the Liberal party and the Social Democratic Party, the Liberal Democrats, known more commonly as the Lib Dems, are the third largest party in the UK, with 72 MPs. 

The Lib Dems are a centre to centre Left party that identifies politically with liberalism. They are staunchly pro-EU, advocate for the rights and treatment of disabled people and carers, as well as protecting wider human rights.

Kickstart Economic Growth.

£1.2 billion a year to the skills system, and £625 million to train up to 60,000 skilled construction workers.  

£725 million apprenticeships package, to support 50,000 young people.

£39 billion investment to build social and affordable housing, as part of the planning and infrastructure act.

Provide local authorities with additional powers, and greater independence in local decision making, through the English Devolution and Community Empowerment Bill.

Make Britain a clean energy superpower.

Ban the sale of diesel and petrol cars after 2030.

Overturned the ban of new onshore wind plants in England.

Commit to build the Sizewell C nuclear plant, as well as modular reactors in Wylfa, North Wales.

Create Great British Energy.
