Plaid Cymru, often referred to as just Plaid, has seen a significant rise in popularity recently, following what many see as unfair treatment of Wales by Westminster.

Plaid Cymru is currently being led by Rhun ap Iorwerth, he is a fluent welsh speaker local to Wales who got into politics early in his life and became elected as a member of the Senedd in 2013 for Anglesey. Most members of Plaid Cymru are people who live in Wales. With various that serve in the houses of parliament as both members of parliament and in the house of lords.

Plaid are a centre to centre Left wing Welsh Nationalist party, who campaign on Welsh independence. Plaid Cymru’s efforts and momentum can be attributed to it’s “For Cymru” focus, which wishes to address the perceived threat of the Right wing movement by using “hope” to “Unite Wales” instead of bringing about further division.
